10 Vendors Who Could Make Your Dream Bag

We live in exciting times. Brands are so much closer to us; we can send our message to them in an instant via social media. And the competition is such that the voice of the customer cannot be ignored. There is much focus on making the buyer feel special and pitching tailored, customized products to them. Our requirements and preferences are suddenly not just important but we are encouraged to make ourselves heard. The prospect of a bag that I could design as I want was too tempting for me and I got my first customized bag from Toteteca in 2013. With the journey of my blog I have witnessed more such vendors. I have compiled this list of 10 brands you could approach to get your dream bag made. The degree of customization varies across them and hence, they are divided into categories accordingly. Also, there could be additional costs for incorporating some of the design elements.

Full Customization.

1. Baroque

Customization is at the core of their operations. Take any design to them and rest assured it would remarkably manifest into reality lead on by their expert design team. 2. 2AM Store

Designer duo Anjali and Meha offer end-to-end customization services. They like to ‘stand out and go against gravity.’ These bags from their website certainly make our expectations of them too go against gravity and through the roof!



3. A.K.A Bespoke

Started in 2011 by three friends Aeiman, Karan and Ateev, A.K.A. Bespoke is a regular at the country’s biggest fashion extravaganzas, designing for labels such as Ritu Kumar and Priyadarshini Rao. They are based out of Mumbai and work on appointments. In addition to bags, they also specialize in bespoke footwear. They have a bank of designs to help you with while incorporating all your requirements. They use nothing but the finest of materials including leather. Trust their good judgment that has been whetted at the London College of Fashion, where they graduated from.



4. Crazy Palette

Bags and clutches literally spring to life with their beautiful hand-painting. It’s a crazy kaleidoscope of colors emanating from their rich palette. Check out our post on them here.



5. Madras Motif

This is our latest discovery of a gem of a budding brand. The lady behind it is Sudha Sekhar and looking at her creations it is tough to believe that she had no formal education whatsoever in fashion accessories. More on Madras Motif in our post here.



Partial Customization

6. RISA

The sisters, Riddhima and Saloni Sayal, literally grew up amidst leather. Their family run export house Aries Inc. was established in 1989, has an in-house tannery and produces around 15,000 leather handbags a month! Yes, whopping numbers! So now you know the girls have deep expertise on leather and creating stunning bags as they do, is second nature for them. What’s more, they are even coming up with a capsule collection for designer Deepika Govind in the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week. More on that later, when their designs hit the ramp. When it comes to customization, their website has a limited set of options, namely – slight increase in product dimensions, adding zipped pockets, embossed/embroidered initials and increasing the length of the strap.



7. Mudhouse

They go the whole nine yards in customization, but if the customer chooses an entirely new design, there would be a charge for the development of a prototype first. If you order in bulk, however, the prototype charges are waived off. They use pure leather for all their bags and footwear.



8. Toteteca

Choose from a set of predefined bag styles, colors, add/delete pockets and add your initials. Order their material swatch book to feel it before zeroing in. Toteteca was the custom bag service I came across first, way back in 2013. They offer free shipping worldwide. Toteteca has been covered on BagsLounge multiple times here, here and here.



Monogramming

9. The Leather Boutique

TLB offers an in house embossing service if you wish to have your initials or a short name (max 6 letters) on the bag. It costs an additional INR 500 per bag. There is a blind emboss and a gold emboss; the difference is depicted in the images below.



10. Perfico

In addition to adding your name to the bag, Perfico offers another interesting personalization option – to add your picture to the bag! Makes for an ideal and offbeat gifting choice. While they claim to have the personalized bag ‘ready’ in 24 hours, their selection of bags is limited.
