8 Bags To Embrace Fringe

Rebecca Minkoff

Not only does fringe lend a distinctive character but also gives a very playful, free-spirited vibe to the whole look. We have seen this trend in more ways than one on runways – from exaggerated to minimal, we are spoilt for choice. There were studs and fringe on otherwise simple bags in the Rebecca Minkoff Spring Summer ’15 show (featured image of this post is from the Minkoff collection). The Burberry Prorsum Runway for Fall Winter ’15 was dominated by fringe both on bags and apparel. If you are wary of donning this style in your clothes, adding them to the accessories is the easiest and safest way to align to the trend. What better to accessory to sport it on than bags! And start with small to moderate fringe if you are unsure of styling and go on to more pronounced ones, once you are confident. It’s futile to debate whether it’s a spring trend or a fall one – no restricting the unfettered fashionista to a particular season or reason after all!

Bringing to you this small curated collection that’s easily accessible in India.

1. ANQI

ANQI Fringe Bag

It’s elegance stems from the fringes that are in a different color on the underside; leads to a bright pop amid the otherwise dark navy blue background. And it’s utterly affordable at INR 2000. It is also available in a couple of other colors. You can order from their Facebook page here.

2. Cupidity

Cupidity Fringe Bag

This is the perfect match for a date-night dress. The color, the big stones, the size – just what is needed to store essentials and be on top of the style game as well. Again, a very affordable number at INR 2,300. Order at Koovs. They also have crossbody bag in blue colorblocking alone with fringe. It appeals instantly to the senses; unfortunately, I couldn’t get a decent image of the same to put up here.

3. Hidesign

Hidesign Fringe Bag

This is what makes Hidesign an endearing brand – it converges traditional craftsmanship with the latest trends on the fashion scene. Here we have a spacious leather bag behind a veil of fringe in sailor blue. The fringe is so toned down, that you can even accompany it to official dos. The Zela is currently available at their stores and not online. It is also available in a smaller size and in white variant. This one costs around INR 6,000 (apologies, couldn’t get the exact price).

4. K22

K22 Fringe Bag

Classic black, studs and fringe – a biker chic combo. Pair it with a leather jacket and you are all set to hit the highway. Super affordable at INR 2,800. Buy from Limeroad.

5. Mango

Mango Fringe Bag

Try carrying this sling bag as a clutch. Fringes are fun when hand held as well. This one is a tad more expensive at INR 10,900. Buy at their online store.

6. Zara

Zara Fringe Bucket Bag

Much as I tried to restrict to one-bag-a-brand for this post, I failed miserably when it came to Zara, picking 3 instead. Their collection of fringed bags just cannot be ignored. The bucket bag has a distinct charm of its own. Club it with suede and fringe and you have an irresistible piece. All yours for INR 4,990.

Zara Fringe Messenger Bag

The messenger is also in suede and all-around fringe. Ideal for anything casual. At INR 2,890, style is within easy reach.

Zara Fringe Shopper Tote

For those very apprehensive of joining the fringe bandwagon, here is a drastically toned down version of the trend, as simple extensions of the handles. Enjoy the subtle movements as you go about your shopping escapades. For INR 6,990. All bags can be bought at their stores.
