Burberry “The Big Crush” – Autumn/Winter 2013

There are a few bags that really get my adrenaline pumping at first sight – the color, design and texture all combine to form a potent combination. The Burberry Big Crush Metal Eyelets is one of them, hands down. You’ve got to see this beauty to believe me:

The hand-applied metal eyelets, as Burberry calls them, have made all the difference. The leather drawstring adds another totally mesmerizing dimension. There is also a detachable shoulder strap given, that can convert it from a dainty hand-held bag to a hands-free cross body one.

Here is a closer look at the eyelets:

There is one zippered pocket on the front as seen in the first pic. Here’s a look at the inner storage compartment, which I think has ample space.

There appears to be a mobile phone holder, and an inner zippered compartment that seems to run two-thirds of the bag’s length. This inner zipped space can be used to store secure items considering the bag only has a drawcord opening. The metal hardware is kept to a minimum as the eyelets hog the limelight here.

In my opinion, this is an extension, a beautiful one at that, of the perforated bag trend – where the eyelets are not adorned with metal rings, but just left bare. Here is an example:

See what I mean?

The Big Crush is available in other finishes as well, though I didn’t find anything with as much an appeal as the Metal Eyelets version:

The perforated/metal eyelet trend gets a definite thumbs-up from me!
