Organizations world over are a lot more socially responsible these days. Feels so good that there is a conscious effort to make this world a better place! The Chime for Change global campaign was founded by Gucci. It utilizes the funds generated to power projects focussed at improving lives of women worldwide in three areas: Education, Health and Justice. It is holding a sale at Christie’s from September 23-30 putting three of its iconic bags on auction – the New Bamboo Bag, the New Jackie Bag and the Soft Stirrup Bag.

The Chime for Change campaign is involved with big names like Beyonce Knowles and Salma Hayek. A couple of months back, Gucci had another charitable tie-up with Sendaihira, which is a Japanese silk goods brand. The limited edition of the bamboo bag was made of a priced silk fabric. Apparently, this was the first time fabric from Sendaihira was used for handbags. The proceeds from this sale were used to aid victims of the Tohoku earthquake.

Does it help knowing that part of the money you splurge on designer handbags will serve philanthropic purposes?

Mother to three lovely boys and wife of a banking professional, I am extremely passionate about a host of topics, bags being one of them. For the record, the others are - makeup, travel, photography, in no particular order. Here I share my perspective on the Indian as well as the international bag-scene. As a youngster I would spend most of my money on bags and carry one according to my outfit. It is this love that I express through this blog. Needless to say, any suggestions for improvement, even healthy criticisms, are highly encouraged. Hope you enjoy your stay here and find something useful to help you on your next bag purchase!
