Discover Crazy Palette’s Bold Strokes of Handpainting on Clutches

Crazy Palette

Among the slew of start-ups we saw in these pages, predominantly by skilled, formally trained NIFT graduates, this time we have Crazy Palette, by someone from a different yet intensely creative field – 3D animation. Bringing to the world of bags unparalleled design potential from animation, is Rishma Lath, a graduate in Multimedia & Animation from the Picasso Centennial College.

Crazy Palette was born in 2009, when Rishma found her job as an Animator in an e-learning company inhibiting her creativity. Such was her faith in her skills that she quit her job and started painting t-shirts and shoes for friends. Her brilliance caught on like wild fire by word-of-mouth and with such encouraging response, there was just no looking back and the rest, as they say, is history. She has two other members in her team – Namrata Dhingra and Sejal Taneja – from backgrounds as diverse as History and Fashion respectively. The common passion for painting is what brought them and keeps them going together.

Slings

What sets Crazy Palette apart is hand-painting done in bold strokes using all colors of the rainbow and everything in between. Their bags make a striking impact at the very first sight – part of it is for sure the intelligent mix of colors and the other part is that they take inspiration from everyday items that lets buyers make an instant connect. There would be abstract patterns, Chinese dragons, rural Indian women, mirror-work – essentially limited only by the stretch of imagination. Embellishments are kept to a minimum to let the designs and colors do all the talking. The materials used evoke marvel and curiosity from the artistically discerning – unconventionality at its best, they occasionally pick corrugated sheets and bubble paper. The end result of these design elements is visually sensational stuff! One look at the images and you can’t help but unanimously nod in agreement!

Clutches

They even add a dash of personal touch, by customizing their products per the buyer’s taste. In their own words:

“Since every product is hand painted, there are no two products that are alike. Owning a Crazy Palette product is like owning a personally commissioned piece of art.”

In fact, not only are no two of their products alike, what I really liked is that their clutches do not have the same pattern on the front and back! Also, age is never the limiting factor; they cater to almost all age groups from 8 – 50 years! Their portfolio consists of iPad sleeves and totes as well. Such beautiful art of the hand shouldn’t be limited only to t-shirts, shoes or bags, should it? They are expanding their portfolio by including home decor and apparel as well!

Go on – add a splash of color to your outfit and home!
