Louis Vuitton W: Latest to join the Trapeze bandwagon

Louis Vuitton W

The new launch from Louis Vuitton – the W bag – is, simply put, a stunner. You’ll appreciate the name ‘W’, when you have a look at its basic structure:

I just love the blend of the monogram canvas with leather – it morphs into something so magical. The W comes in 2 sizes – PM and GM, the latter being larger. The left and right sides of the ‘W’ can be folded inside to give a more compact look:

Notice how the letters and symbols are raised over the surface of the bag, in the above version. This particular one has the right amount of yellow to brighten up a blue Monday morning. There are the following variations as well:

If you look close enough, the outline of the bag falls into the shape of a trapezium. There have been other bags of this shape (in decreasing order of side flap size):

Celine Trapeze (this seems to be the most popular of the lot):

Can we see something similar in the Indian bag-scape as well – my pick of able designers would be Hidesign and Baggit.

My favourite remains the LV W. What about yours? Do you give a thumbs-up to the trapeze clan?

Vidya Gupta

Mother to three lovely boys and wife of a banking professional, I am extremely passionate about a host of topics, bags being one of them. For the record, the others are - makeup, travel, photography, in no particular order. Here I share my perspective on the Indian as well as the international bag-scene. As a youngster I would spend most of my money on bags and carry one according to my outfit. It is this love that I express through this blog. Needless to say, any suggestions for improvement, even healthy criticisms, are highly encouraged. Hope you enjoy your stay here and find something useful to help you on your next bag purchase!
