New Bag Launches

The last couple of weeks went by in a flash. Before we could even acknowledge that it was starting, it had already ended, leaving my husband and self physically and mentally exhausted. But being in the city of dreams – Mumbai – am not really complaining! Just can’t wait to explore its endless bylanes and shopping malls to discover its bag bounty!

A lot’s been happening in the world of bags with loads of new launches. I login to FB and am pleasantly surprised each time. This post is a round-up of all the exciting new things to give you ideas for your upcoming purchases.

Baggit
The Nomad collection has just been launched. It is inspired by the myriad cruelty-free man-made and recycled fabrics with earthy tones. I interpret ‘nomad’ here refers to ‘fashion’ as fashion is never rooted to a place but is influenced by a whole lot of places, art, people, nature etc. While the bags are functionally attractive, I really think Baggit needs to work on its colors. This theme of earthy tones has been repeating in most of the recent collections and I wish to see bright, peppy, unconventional colors on these otherwise superb bags.

Calonge
They have something new and different than their trademark woven leather. While the woven leather is stunning, it could get a little repetitive but I was glad to see their SS ’14 bags with different weave patterns. Their colors steal the show. Rich and saturated. The very little that I saw of their store in Phoenix Market City, Kurla, gave a glimpse of beautifully adorned shelves in a spectrum of shades. If only they slashed their prices slightly!

Yelloe
A brand that I am keeping an interesting watch on. Their recent bags have been simplistic yet a class apart. It’s a sea change from when we discovered them on the blog. I see the makings of a ‘Baggit’ in them. I hope they continue in the same vein and churn out bag after bag of highly sought shapes and colors.

Lavie

The Lavie 4D bag is making waves of sorts among the fashion-o-sphere. Their contest to wear each form of the 4D differently attracted tons of bloggers and helped spread awareness. It’s essentially a reversible tote that can be modified to 4 different styles. It’s no secret that I am a die-hard fan of anything that multi-tasks. So the Lavie 4D bag gets two thumbs-up for its versatility and innovative thought. I am yet to check it out in detail for a review, that’s got delayed with all this shifting business, but I must be close to a detailed review soon.
