This week Stella McCartney and Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow launched their collaborative collection called the Stella McCartney X Goop. The friendship of Stella and Gwyneth goes back a long time and having created a niche for themselves in their respective fields, this collaboration is a natural extension. Goop is the lifestyle website of the actress. The X Goop is a capsule collection, meaning a limited number of items that can be combined in various forms to create complete looks.
Apart from the apparels, there is a shoulder bag and a clutch; the former is what caught my eye. The bag is a no-frills sleek flap bag with a triangular side profile and the only major hardware seen is the central clasp in gold. It has a rather thin removable and adjustable shoulder strap. It lives up to the “effortless” theme, as Stella puts it. The triangular profile ensures adequate space within. The material used here is faux leather. The Beckett Shoulder is available in a limited palette of colors.
The best feature of the bag is the way it transforms itself into an elegant large clutch. Either version is perfect for a formal occasion. It’s been hardly a week for the launch and the Beckett is already sold out at Goop; speaks volumes about the anticipation of the collection. The Beckett would cost USD 1,230, once it is available, that is! This entire capsule is limited edition so do watch out for when stocks become available.
