TLB’s SS15 Collection Has a Good Mix of Bags

Browsing my Facebook feed a few weeks ago, I first came across glimpses of The Leather Boutique’s Sighs of Nature bags. The teasers hinted at a travel theme but as more bags were unveiled, it was clear that the collection is a fine balance between work and fun.

As Zeshan Rahman, founder of TLB, tells me, ‘Sighs of Nature’ is the tag given to their Spring Summer ’15 collection to add a dash of drama. Bingo. But also hidden is a strong message. Technology has pervaded our lives like never before. Whether at home or on the go, we are inseparable from our screens. Times are such that we cannot completely do away with gadgets but we must inculcate the discipline to pull ourselves away from the virtual world and revel in the physical one, with those present around us at right then, right there. Nature too, ‘sighs’ at this lapse of judgment and wishes man would connect with her more often. Hence, the term holds good. Well, now that’s my interpretation of the name! 🙂 Do let me know if it inspires you to think on other lines!

Let’s dive right into the most exciting part – of looking at the bags themselves! There are two unisex backpacks, one in all-leather and the other in a combination of leather and canvas. I tell you, these bags hog the limelight due to their unique shape, multiple external pockets and rugged appeal! There are three shoulder bags for the ladies; these are in butter leather and I have been imagining soft, supple, luxe leather ever since I heard the term. These shoulder bags are apt for formal occasions and given their neutral color, would pair up with just about any outfit. Another feature worth pointing out is the tasseled zip-pulls and charms which are a subtler version of the much in-vogue fringe trend. There are also limited edition unisex satchels in washed leather and in bright colors, which are exclusively available at the stores and not online. So Bangaloreans, you are a privileged lot!

While work and casual bags come together, I would have liked to see a few more styles especially from a travel perspective – trendy sling bags and waist pouches, which are quintessential elements of any comfortable travel as they allow one to be hands-free. With the sort of design expertise and high quality leather they have access to, one can expect stellar products.

At upwards of INR 7,000 the bags are expensive, but then they are made of the world’s crème-de-la-crème European hides. Except for the limited edition bags, you can order the rest at the online store. TLB offers free shipping all over India, though for orders below INR 2,500, there is a nominal charge. They also do international delivery.

Do let us know what you think of the bags!

About Vidya Gupta

Mother to three lovely boys and wife of a banking professional, I am extremely passionate about a host of topics, bags being one of them. For the record, the others are - makeup, travel, photography, in no particular order. Here I share my perspective on the Indian as well as the international bag-scene. As a youngster I would spend most of my money on bags and carry one according to my outfit. It is this love that I express through this blog. Needless to say, any suggestions for improvement, even healthy criticisms, are highly encouraged. Hope you enjoy your stay here and find something useful to help you on your next bag purchase!
