Bag of the Week: In Saffron, White and Green

The White Light Potli

Of course, the theme for this week had to be something on the lines of the Indian Tricolor. Something that evokes feelings of belonging to the largest democracy in the world. The colors saffron, white and green are a delectable combination and outfits/accessories in this color category are available by the dozen across e-retail sites. The potli bag is from The White Light. While we celebrate the advances our country has made in all these years, perhaps we could do our bit for the coming years by using bags made from upcycled material. You can discover more on The White Light here. Jewelry is from Voylla and footwear is from Flipkart. Voylla is soon becoming one of our favorite destinations for jewelry.

The White Light Republic Day Look

Bag: The White Light, INR 400
Suit: Craftsvilla, INR 1331
Earrings: Voylla, INR 159
Necklace: Voylla, INR 699
Footwear: Flipkart, INR 499

Style Tips: You can even braid your hair and use some colorful accessories there as well. If your outfit has shorter sleeves, you’d do well to add a timepiece and some bangles/bracelet. Also, instead of potli, you can carry those Rajasthani embroidered jhola bags. In footwear, jutis would be a good alternative. For makeup you can opt for a dark green eyeliner and orange lipstick. And yes, do not forget the bindi for a thoroughly Indianized look!

About the author

Vidya Gupta

Mother to three lovely boys and wife of a banking professional, I am extremely passionate about a host of topics, bags being one of them. For the record, the others are - makeup, travel, photography, in no particular order. Here I share my perspective on the Indian as well as the international bag-scene. As a youngster I would spend most of my money on bags and carry one according to my outfit. It is this love that I express through this blog. Needless to say, any suggestions for improvement, even healthy criticisms, are highly encouraged. Hope you enjoy your stay here and find something useful to help you on your next bag purchase!
