I’ve been discovering some amazing websites since the time this blog has been up and running. Usually it’s the regular Google, Twitter, Facebook discoveries, but sometimes it’s also through our readers. Around a month back, I was on the lookout for an everyday sling bag that is also chic and compact. Then one day I had a reader query about the credibility of Bagwati.com. I lost no time in checking out the site; I had visited it long before but did not register much of it. Thus began my interaction with this website.
Personally, I prefer pleasing design aesthetics when I check out any site. I do not mean anything fancy here; just a professional layout, ease of navigation, crisp interactive messages to the user. This aspect has enough power to enhance or undermine the user’s experience. Bagwati scores averagely on the layout. Moving on, I checked their collection of bags. Whatever they have is good – genuine, branded goods, from the likes of Hidesign and Lavie. In fact, you’d find some classic styles that would no longer be available in stores. There is usually some discount offer active on the site. As of now, there is a discount of 10% on all orders above INR 1,999. The rest of the user interface is rather good, in terms of interaction and navigation.
But the collection is very limited. The only brands I saw so far have been Hidesign, Lavie, Deuter and Guess. They certainly need to improve on this. That’s the only grouse I have with this site. I chose the Lavie Calico CSB Pleats sling. It’s been reviewed here.
The images are good, with adequate zooming capabilities and high resolution. They have the most amazing process of sending updates to the buyer from the moment you make your purchase. One confirming your purchase, one about estimated shipping, one after actual shipping. They have a tie up with Fedex for courier service – and we all know it’s one of the most reliable service providers around. The best part is, they send you an update after the order is delivered at your address – I am an avid online shopper and have not seen any other e-tailer do this so far.
My bag arrived in the most impeccable packaging, complete with the dust bag. It was so well packed that I didn’t have the heart to disturb it and extract my bag out of it! 🙂
